Egg Tarts are one of the world’s truly classic sweet treats. Originally known in Portugal as Pastéis de Nata, they made their way to China, specifically Macau, in colonial times (蛋挞). Another famous version of this dessert are Hong Kong style egg tarts (港式蛋挞), with a flaky cookie-like shell.
